Review of Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) by Elizabeth L — 25 Jan 2008
Really strange in a good way. Nostalgic if you remember '70s TV. Great acting, stylish direction, and no computer special FX--the very cool stuff is all done in the camera! Worth it for the Newlywed Game outtake alone, but also for Drew Barrymore's daffy character, Sam Rockwell's amazing embodiment of Chuck Barris, George Clooney's witty direction, Julia Roberts' femme fatale.
Like the Gong Show itself, this movie is funny but creepy, makes you want to take a shower afterward. In a good way. Oh, and pay attention to the names of Chuck's classmates in CIA boot camp.
