Review of Conan the Destroyer (1984) by Hugh F — 27 Feb 2012
This follow-up to "Conan the Barbarian" seems more obsessed with injecting humor and 'hokey' special effects than it's predecessor. It's one of those films which isn't bad to have playing in the background while 'multi-tasking' - there are a few scenes and pieces of dialog which redeem it a bit.
I'll confess that one of the main attractions for me is Grace Jones as the Amazonian-styled Zula. Another is the character of Malak, though it tends to press it's role of comedy relief a little bit further than it should.
The Wizard, though one of my favorite characters from the first film, is a little disappointing but does display more wizard traits than in the original. As for the plot, I feel it doesn't really matter much.
