Review of Computer Chess (2013) by Chichan K — 24 Jan 2013
A very clever little movie. The dry humor and the well staged concept made for quite enjoyable time. Unfortunately things really fall apart in the last fifteen minutes, where things go from being subtly funny and a pretty straightforward narrative to suddenly becoming super indie symbolic and vague.
It's rare that that doesn't come off as forced or pretentious, and it felt no different here. It really marred what was otherwise a really good movie, and what turned what could have been a clever little pseudo-mockumentary into an interesting film with unfortunate indie pitfalls.
