Review of Compliance (2012) by Byron B — 20 Nov 2014

Incredibly tense thriller. Inspired by real events and looks at Milgram Experiment-like obedience to authority. It is a troubling subject matter, but the film is well made. The characters with their various levels of objections to the instructions received over the phone based on their individual consciences are well acted.

The ending with the cops trying to find the culprit feels a bit disconnected from the rest of the movie. And yet, this film will likely make you think as it poses many questions about authority and responsibility.
