Of course Commando is not your typical award winning film but it is what it is and it does exceptionally well. In other words, think about it this way, the basic plot is Arnold is a ex Special Forces Colonel and the bad guys kidnap his daughter and basically Arnold goes around killing people; what do you think the movie was going to be about?
