Review of Colossal (2017) by Juan V — 29 Apr 2017
Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudekis are excellent.
If the movie doesn't directly focus on romance or comedy these two make it.
The film is a smart and unique piece of art.
A woman breaks up with her boyfriend because of her excessive drinking and neediness moves to a small town with a park.
At the same time a giant monster is roaming around Seoul, Korea causing mayhem.
Amazingly this monster is connected to Anne's character is so many ways; whenever she moves around the monster does.
It's a metaphor for relationships and how needy they are.
I love the acting, the music, the effects, and the subtle themes they convey.
It's not a giant, special effects flick keep that in mind.
Everyone may not get it but I really liked how flawed these people were they create monsters of their own.
Very creative.
