Colossal is a film that tries to juggle multiple genres. The dramatic elements work quite well and the ocassional humour works also, at times, but for some reason this screenplay is wedged into a 1950's sci-fi culturally insensitive monster movie - but dont be fooled it is in fact still a dramady.
... or is it? Its so unsure of itself you will be led down a path of feeling like they should have cut the scifi out or rewrote the script because it just fails in all three genres by lacking detail and sensibility to the material from which it fails to correctly reference.
