Review of Colombiana (2011) by Timothy F — 26 Feb 2012
Cast: Zoe Saldana, Michael Vartan, Jordi Mollà, Cliff Curtis, Callum Blue, Lennie James, Amandla Stenberg, Max Martini, Graham McTavish.
Director: Olivier Megaton.
Summary: After watching Bogota gangsters slay her parents in cold blood, young Cataleya Restrepo (Zoe Saldana) dedicates her life to becoming a ruthless assassin on the hunt for the criminals who killed her family.
My Thoughts: "It was a good little revenge thriller. I felt remorse for the young Cataleya, but the older one I found to be a bit selfish. I can see where you want revenge and will stop at nothing, but to risk what family you have left? Not very wise. Cataleya shows little respect to her uncle who has taught her everything she knows. The action is OK. It is predictable which takes away the surprise from any revenge flick. Saldana does well in the film. But I just think they spent more time on her look and the sexiness of a woman hired killer then they did on story and character development, which would have helped this film out a lot more.".
