Review of Colombiana (2011) by Dankwa B — 06 May 2012
A very cliched action movie with nothing new to offer to a very tired and unoriginal style of action movie. This film was very stereotypical and predictable with the standard parents killed in front of child & they grow up to be a badass looking for vengeance after years of training; e.
G. Leon, Kill Bill (O-Ren). You could predict what was coming a mile off and really had some stupid plot points which made it seem a lot more cheap while feeling too long for a film of it's style. I felt disappointed by Luc Besson because he has produced some rubbish films over the years after the brilliance of Taken and District 13.
The acting was very mediocre aside from the child Catalaya who I though was not too bad. Overall a big disappointment and would rank in video game terms as Call of Juarez The Cartel, where if you are looking for a simple formulaic no brainer action film then this will not blow you away but satisfy you.
