Review of Colombiana (2011) by Julio G — 16 May 2012
Eat.
A young woman in Colombia witnesses the death of her parents by a rival drug cartel. She is sent to the United States to be raised by friends of the family. She grows up to become a stone cold assassin and once she is comfortable with her skill sets she sets out on a plot for revenge on those responsible for her parents death.
"When I lose my son I lose my life.".
Olivier Megaton, director of Transporter 3, Exit, and the upcoming Taken 2, delivers Colombiana. The storyline for this picture is fairly standard for the genre but delivered in an excellent and worthwhile fashion. The action scenes were very good and the gritty aspects of the picture were well delivered. The cast delivers excellent performances and includes Zoe Saldana, Michael Vartan, Callum Blue, and Lennie James.
"You have to learn how the world works.".
Colombiana is a film I have wanted to see for some time. I have always been a fan of movies written by the great Luc Besson (Leon: The Professional) and found this as good as his Le Femme Nikita picture. The character was great and worth following and Zoe did a wonderful job as the lead character. I strongly recommend seeing this picture.
"I am going to miss you.".
