Review of Colombiana (2011) by Bobo K — 02 Nov 2012
While some of the action in Columbiana was pretty entertaining, the movie ultimately lost me on its overwhelming lack of believability. Fiction is one thing, but some of the stuff Saldana's character pulls off is far beyond the barriers of fiction -and arriving at this conclusion requires no over-analysis.
The meat of the film is no doubt the aforementioned action sequences, but what seals Columbiana's doom is Megaton's failure to dress the "meat" up with anything but gristle. In other words, the acting is subpar at best, and the main character simply isn't convincing enough to sell Columbiana as a worthy box office "meal".
