Review of Colombiana (2011) by Deanna R — 07 Jun 2013
I've been a fan of Zoe Saldana's lately, so I was looking forward to this. She at least upholds her end of the movie. It's not that this movie is bad, it's that it could have been better.
I found the story sloppy, and there were these moments where everything was just way too convenient. Like whenever she needed to escape somewhere, an air duct would magically appear in a wall. Or that time when she has a giant machine gun hidden in the ceiling of a random apartment three floors below her? And other instances like that.
This isn't without its moments though. Like I said, Zoe Saldana is impressive, she carries the movie nicely, I just wish she had a better script. Also, she may have only been in the first 20 minutes, but Amandla Sternberg is a force to be reckoned with.
I can't wait to see what she does in her career. This is a decent action flick that could have been awesome, but settled for slightly above average.
