Review of Colma: The Musical (2006) by Sal M — 18 Nov 2008
This is what an indie movie is all about, and the fact that I grew up seeing alot of Colma makes it all the more enjoyable. What's so nice is that despite it being very clear that this was an indie movie, very low budget, the cast and crew really push as far as they can to make the movie as good as it can be, and they definitely succeed.
Living in the Bay Area, Colma in particular, will definitely help one enjoy this movie alot more, but I'd like to think that those not from the area would find it enlightening.
The actors all do a great job at portraying very real, relatable characters. I could name each one of those characters in someone I know in my own real life.
To top it all off, the music is highly entertaining. Alot of people seemed to have issues with the keys the songs were done in, but it really didn't bother me because of how damn enjoyable many of the numbers were.
This movie is alot of fun, very well done, and a great example of how you can find quality films that aren't big budget studio franchises.
