Review of Collateral Beauty (2016) by Mc S — 18 Dec 2016
Wait, is this a movie that fails to deliver easy answers? Are there concepts that are discussed and not spoon-fed to the audience? Well, our MTV-generation movie critics will be sent running in the opposite direction, grimacing hard as if they've been asked to solve a quadratic equation.
Death plays the best part in this movie, and Mirren does a fantastic job. Love is the only true "why", and we know it from the first scene, even as Smith tries to convince his staff otherwise. And Time is angry at you for wasting his gift as you watch all the save-the-world-with-violence movies in your Megaplex instead of this one.
Do yourself a favor, calm down, breathe deep, go see and feel this movie. And happy holidays to you.
