Review of Collateral Beauty (2016) by Keely R — 21 Mar 2017
Poorly acted or poorly written or just majorly contrived?
The first 20 minutes is ridiculous; it feels very forced and between either the pretentious writing or butchered acting it is difficult to keep watching, but you do because it's got to get better. Right? Eh not really. The movie's premise is intriguing but it tries too hard to have a 'Valentine's Day' type character and plot point connection. The way it tries to get to the point is silly and malicious at best and pretensions at worst. If you give this movie a shot, you might end it in tears over the big twist and heartfelt acting by Will Smith or grateful tears that you don't have to see the rest of these A-listers fail so hard and you're just really glad it's over.
