Review of Collateral Beauty (2016) by Ashley N — 17 May 2017
The melancholy and heart break that this movie inevitably causes is in fact matched by the closure and hope it offers in the end (contrary to many of the cynical critics on here). I think all the actors did a good job and didn't overplay their roles.
There was subtle beauty throughout. And the close of the movie was a positive note. A child dying is not something that's supposed to be hopeful or beautiful. They showed the devastation it causes while still leaving you to feel okay and a sense of closure in the end.
That was it's purpose. I feel sorry for those of you who missed that and called it "cynical" and a waste of cinematography. This is a beautiful movie about a devastating topic and it left me feeling the need to show it to others.
