Review of Collateral (2004) by Dan T — 25 Dec 2011
Collateral starts off as a fascinating and excellent drama wonderfully directed by Michael Mann. Tom Cruise turns in a somewhat atypical performance in that he is the villain, but he's still Tom Cruise.
However, Jamie Foxx truly shines in this movie as the sympathetic protagonist. The movie goes strong for about three-quarters of the film, but a couple of problematic plot contrivances make the film less interesting and more pedestrian.
That being said, Collateral is excellently crafted from top to bottom and effortlessly thrilling.
