Review of Collateral (2004) by Lora R — 08 Jun 2012
The acting by Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx was brilliant in Collateral, because it felt real and you could understand and feel for the both characters. Tom Cruise played the role of the villain awesomely, because as the killer he had the charms but you could also see his twisted side. Jamie Foxx's performance was good in the sense of expressing his confused emotions throughout the movie.
The character development of the two main characters was well done. I didn't like the development of the story however, because it was slow paced at times and I also found a few plot holes. Why did Vincent have to choose a cab? Why did he have to keep the cab driver alive? The electricity is out in the whole building but the lifts work perfectly? How did Vincent know which way they went? These are just a few questions that came up in my mind while watching the movie. I also disliked the ending. It was too easy to be true according to me.
Collateral is definitely watchable but certainly not for the story, but rather for the performance of Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx.
