Review of Collateral (2004) by Jack C — 12 Jul 2013
Great performances from Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise (sporting an... interesting hairstyle). Captivating direction from Michael Mann, and a really good screenplay, with a wonderfully original plot. The film shows a good view of LA, and America in general.
However, I felt Mark Ruffalo's cop character was underused, and *SPOILER* I thought his character died too early in the film; I didn't get to know enough about him. The part with Foxx's character's mother was slightly irrelevant in my view. Also, whilst the gritty urban soundtrack captured the feel of the movie and setting, it just irritated me a bit at times. I don't know why, it just kinda distracted at times when I was trying to concentrate.
Despite that, a really great movie, which I'd highly recommend!
