Review of Colette (2018) by Marie L — 12 Dec 2018
Keira Knightly is simply not up to conveying the fact that the real Colette was Trouble with a capital T. I get the impression from reading the various reviews that the reviewers are not familiar with Colette's vast output, or even a single book of hers.
Colette's writings reveals a sharp and.ironic sensibility, coupled with truly poetic and lyrical powers of observation.
She had a powerful intellect and a forceful personality. There was nothing tame about her. There was something unnerving about.
Her beauty; she had an exotic look about her.
So though Knightly gives it her all, she is simply too cute and too pretty, too conventional by far to take on the role of this transgressive and dangerous woman.
