Review of Cold Weather (2010) by Michael H — 23 Dec 2011
Cold Weather is a great movie in so many subtle ways. It defies classification, but I've heard the term 'mumblecore mystery' coined as the genre, and I guess it suits. It was filmed in my hometown, the beautifully gray Portland, so I was instantly drawn to it.
It's about a brother and sister who are drawn together by the sudden disappearance of a friend. It's very low key and low budget. Some people will find this movie boring. That may be because they've been deadened by thrillers that don't pay any more attention than they do.
