Review of Cold Weather (2010) by Ana B — 05 Sep 2012
Mystery movie about Doug, a student of criminology that has left college and works the graveyard shift in an ice factory in Portland. His ex-girlfriend is back in town but suddenly disappears after an incident at her hotel. Intrigued Doug, his determined sister Gail and his work mate Carlos try to find out where Rachel is with the help of Doug favourite character, Sherlock Holmes.
I know this is a movie that had very good reviews, however is far to slow to be a mystery, nothing really happens in the first half an hour. In truth this could have been really good, but there isnâ(TM)t enough action to fill 90 min. of film. I do like independent movies and I do appreciate that they have probably made this one with $75 budget but it needs more witty dialogues and a moving camera, it isnâ(TM)t ok for me to film a sleeping man for nearly a minute without anything else happening and many of the conversations feel like small talk. So, nice idea and good plot but it needs more dynamism especially at the beginning.
