Review of Cold Mountain (2003) by Vivienne C — 16 Aug 2009
Star-studded cast, episodic road/war/classic love story, and lots of Southern accents made Cold Mountain fun to watch. The three main characters were well acted (although Jude Law is too much of a nancy boy compared to how I pictured Inman), with Renee Zelleweger stealing the scene (and the Oscar.
) And the cameos rival Frida! Seriously, Phil Seymour Hoffman was in it for 15 minutes, Natalie Portman for 10 minutes, Jena Malone aka Donnie Darko girl for 30 seconds (!) and the guy from the White Stripes was in it somewhere near the end.
Wow. The reason this movie succeeded in my eyes is that it builds and it builds and then it gives closure, albeit sad closure to the long hard journey.
