Review of Cold in July (2014) by Thomas L — 27 May 2014
A nice throwback to 80's era thrillers and more specifically John Carpenter, complete with a finger tapping synth score. Cold In July morphs from one movie into another, to varying degrees of success.
I would recommend it for Don Johnson's ridiculously goofy performance alone. However, I feel like the film kind of gets sidetracked by it's own twists, and as a result it's unbalanced. One particular plot thread seems to be completely discarded by the end, never to be touched on again.
