Review of Cold in July (2014) by Steve W — 29 Nov 2014
Cold in July is a gritty and violent western with great performances. Hall is convincing as a humble and skittish man thrown into a deadly situation, and the plot twists definitely take you for a loop.
Even better than Hall and even Sam Shepard, is the scene stealing Don Johnson. Full of themes about honour and humanity, Cold in July is a kitschy 80's period piece western with a lot of flair and bite.
