Review of Cold in July (2014) by Marion G — 28 Jun 2014
Outstanding, witty genre-bending thriller with a macabre edge. Way better than the average, the film knowingly shuffles comedy, tragedy, gothic, police procedural, western etc, and its 80s setting allows it to reflect on the history of the film and video industries too, as well as offering a wry history of communications technology.
If that sounds dull, it certainly isn't - this is an edgy, jumpy adventure, beautifully shot and acted. Brilliant!
