Review of Cold in July (2014) by Danny D — 03 Jul 2014
These violent "B" films have a solid tradition going back into the 70's, and they always get made because there is a certain segment of movie watchers that loves them. theyre all similar in tone, an this one is no different.
taking place in the 80's, it feels very much like an 80's crime film in the vein of "blood simple." the story was light but interesting, and the actors were all good enough to make the film work.
many of the actions of the main character were unexplained and the film suffered from too many leaps in internal logic, but it was a solid watch.
