Review of Coffee and Cigarettes (1987) by Trevor C — 28 Feb 2012
It's a slow film and it doesn't always feel as realistic as it thinks it does. The premise is peculiar, but not the entire film is really all that interesting. I'd say about 60% of the film's skits are interesting, the rest are finely written but there's not much to help you through.
Perhaps if this film were improvised, in a realistic, non comedic way, it would be much more interesting and involving.
The first short is enough to get you interested, but the truly good shorts are too far apart and there really aren't enough of them. The best one is by far the one with Bill Murray.
It's interesting to some extent, but not as good as other works from Jarmusch.
