Review of Code Unknown (2000) by Panithi K — 22 Oct 2007
I should be expected to know, from watching funny games and cache, that Haneke does not believe in indulging passive viewers. This is a film that aggressively confronts viewers to reflect on their own indulgence and morality.
This was definitely not what I was looking to do last night, exhausted and depressed after working 10 hours at a job that I hate, and generally feeling discomfort about the fragile state of my current living/working/future siuation, but doesn't that just make me a self centered piece of shit for stopping the DVD after a half hour and deciding to wait for a time when i'm better rested, when its more convenient for me to engage in these uncomfortable discussions about prejudice, inequality and suffering?
