Review of Code Unknown (2000) by Meg T — 16 Jun 2008
Fifteen uncomfortable seconds into this film, I thought to myself, "Meg: you masochist. Why do you keep watching Haneke films?" But this turned out to be no _Funny Games_ or _Seventh Continent_.
While there are difficult moments, the film is tame by Haneke's standards. It consists of several loosely-woven, overlapping stories. I suspect that they are too loosely-woven for most viewers, but I sort of liked the fact that they weren't tied tightly together in any forced way.
And, as usual, Juliette Binoche is spectacular.
