Review of Code 46 (2003) by Ricardo V — 10 Sep 2007
A film that is flawed yet admirable. it's a film that was made for not that much money, instead of vast city landscapes made by computer graphics, you get futuristic small locations like a street corner or inside someone's home.
no one says you need to make things huge in order to convey a feeling of futurism, it's a visually well made craft film with again, desaturated color tones which I love to a fault. bht the only reason this film falls short of its aspirations is because the tim robbins/samantha morton love story is unconvincing.
it's not that director didn't push for it, give the screenplay scenes that would create a feeling of genuine loving feelings between the two, it's just that robbins and morton don't have chemistry.
it doesn't exist. they try hard, very hard to convince us they do, but in the end, their efforts seem to remain two seperate identities instead of one being. but still worth a rent especially for fans of sci fi films.
