Review of Code 46 (2003) by Kartik B — 20 Dec 2007
An extremely interesting film. The impacts of genetic engineering and globalization are explored. However the theme is hidden behind this facade of science fiction. It is a love story discussing our tendency towards destiny - a destiny determined by our genetic background.
It also explores the increasing divide of inequality - the concept of 'cover' could be adapted from our current refugee policy in Australia. The Oedipal issues are also notable, but dont quite achieve their goal.
However it does link back to the concept of free will versus destiny. The final scene set to Coldplay is ephereal.
