Review of Coco Before Chanel (2009) by Ron G — 28 Feb 2010
Terrific cinematography and costumes are the star here in a film that focuses on the early years of designer Coco Chanel.
Audrey Tatou is always good, but the film misses it's mark somewhat in the characteriziaton of Coco --- who is obviously a respected, tough female character --- but you never really find out what is behind her drive to be a designer and business-woman. It deserves the Oscar for costumes --- but probably will lose out to "The Young Victoria".
