Review of Cockneys vs Zombies (2012) by Merol Kim C — 17 Jun 2014
I can't walk away without telling the truth: it's a rip-off of 'Shaun of the Dead' by every aspect imaginable. I can see shots that might as well be taken straight from it. This doesn't mean it could go horribly, but unfortunately it did anyway.
The characters are just plain annoying and I don't call anything said in a London accent comedy, because this film really does seem to think that anything said by an old age pensioner from London is funny.
There were one or two laughs at the start, but from then on in it's cheap, sleep material. I probably would have been nicer to the film if it dropped the comedy aspect all together and then just tried to be so bad it's good (not that it would have been).
However, after all that wining and winging, I guess it's a decent try. There are: perfect sets for a zombie flick; perfect make-up for a zombie flick and perfect atmosphere for a zombie flick. For that final tick, all it needs is a good script, because the horrific problem that plagues this so called 'comedy' zombie flick is simple - it's not funny!
