Review of Cobra (1986) by Troy F — 17 Dec 2012
Cobra is a very standard 80's action flick, you've got a buff rough-and-tough rebel hero like Stallone who kills and kills bad guys, and there are some predictable turns. So why did I still enjoy it as much as I did?
Cause its got style, real fucking style! And that mixed with Stallone's character and the action makes the movie kind of badass! What do I mean by style? Why the cinematography and editing, they made the movie awesome! The film had an interesting look to its shots that seemed almost ahead of other action movies of its time, and the editing was so well done in a way that made the action scenes intense and cool! It's this reason that I would return to Cobra for a few more rounds, and hell if I ever made an action movie, this film would make a great reference for making a film have cool sharp style! I know I'm being quite vague about it, but just watch it and you may see what I mean. Nothing special in substance, offers a unique spin in style.
