Review of Clueless (1995) by Ahmed M — 28 Jun 2016
Clueless (1995) C-97m. ??? D: Amy Heckerling. Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, Paul Rudd. Silverstone is just wonderful in this delightfully humorous, refreshingly original look at 16 year old girl who helps a new student with her popularity "status" and tries to establish her own self-interest (and relationship) with boys.
Well acted, very clever and very funny script by director Heckerling, with laugh-out-loud, deliciously over-the-top vernacular, and a certain sweetness that's rare in teen movies. In fact, this may very well be the best movie ever made about high school life (perhaps rivaled only by SAY ANYTHING .
. . ) Best of all: No sex, crude dialogue, or characters being mean for the sake of being mean. And again, Silverstone couldn't be more perfect. As if!
