Review of Club Dread (2004) by Lucas Y — 21 Jun 2010
Nobody really seems to like this movie. I believe "Club Dread" to be one of those movies with a VERY narrow audience, but to those in that audience - horror-slasher aficionados - this flick is a beloved cult classic, and in my humble opinion the absolute BEST of the Broken Lizard films.
As parody, it doesn't come any better than this; compared to the "Scary Movie" films, the satire contained within "Club Dread" is incredibly subtle and clever, perhaps a bit too dry for many tastes, but hilarious nonetheless.
You gotta love Jay Chandrasekhar's immortal Putman character, Lars (the man with the hands with the power to seduce any chick), live action Pac-Man, and Bill Paxton in one of his best crazy-guy roles.
