Review of Cloverfield (2008) by Alex M — 27 May 2014
I have certain issues with the script and the fact that a person was actually filming this the entire time (wouldn't you be focused on surviving?!), but this was an extremely gripping film. I seriously couldn't turn away from the screen for its entire length, and the way the film builds tension is truly amazing.
The atmosphere created here - one of constant dread - is almost as terrifying as the scares themselves. So despite this film's many flaws, it still comes off as something very special - certainly one of the better found footage films out there, and a thrilling monster flick.
