Review of Closer (2004) by Dave L — 06 Aug 2011
If one wants to see 4 people in the dating world being utterly cruel to one another, "Closer" is the film for them. There is no doubt that the work is thought-provoking in its cynical look at modern relationships.
It is also clear that the work of the 4 leads is top-notch acting: Julia Roberts, Clive Owen, Natalie Portman, and Jude Law. "Closer" is about being discontent in a relationship, fanning the flames of jealously and navigating truth/fiction in a postmodern dating world.
Interesting film for sure by director Mike Nichols. One thing I didn't like was the jumping around in timeframes with little to no transitions.
