We've seen this formula beaten to death over the history of film, but nothing is better than the original. Steven Spielberg makes for a funny, scary and fascinating take on aliens in one of his very first movies.

I can't really criticize the movie for anything since it's so classic yet I thought many plot elements were kinda dumb. This movie also had the cliche of kids knowing more about the situation than anybody else.

We see this everywhere nowadays in horror and scifi movies. But like I said, I can't criticize this movie for that since I don't know when that trend began but I can say that is pretty cheesy and takes me out of the movie.

Yes, Spielberg did this in poltergeist. We know. And since everyone says Spielberg is good at working with kids, I agree. I only disagree when Jurassic park is on and the kids are literally the dumbest and most annoying characters.

But in this, there wasn't much screen time and I thought they were pretty good. Of course, there are some little not nit-picks and tweaks I'd like to make with this movie but I can get over them.

Richard Dreyfuss was a wise a choice as the lead. Especially since you like him so much, it was best to put him in the lead. The movie was also a major basis for most sci-fi/alien invasion films to come and for that, I thank you, Spielberg.
