Review of Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) by Brandon W — 23 May 2016
Close Encounters of the Third Kind is directed and written by Steven Spielberg, and it stars Richard Dreyfuss in a science fiction film about a worker so saw an UFO, and when he starts seeing it, his mind gets weird and start to think differently.
It's been a while since I've watched this movie, and I don't remember most of it except for the 5 notes of it and the aliens. So after watching it, Close Encounters of the Third Kind is a fantastic film.
Richard Dreyfuss is great in this, and so are the supporting cast. It's unpredictable in the way that I wasn't quite sure if the aliens were here to kill the humans, or if they were the good ones.
The effects still look amazing to this day, which I'm not quite sure how they did that since CGI weren't invented in that day. The direction and writing by Steven Spielberg is well done, and it doesn't go for the tropes that you usually see.
The score by John Williams is impressive to hear, and the characters are well developed. Close Encounters of the Third Kind is an amazing film that Steven Spielberg does a great job in terms of making an alien film.
