(1977) Close Encounters of the Third kind.
SCI-FICTION/ DRAMA/ SUSPENSE.
What this film does really well is that it takes two central characters and takes the audience with it's experience to whatever they might find as a result of encountering an UFO sighting. The two central characters are Roy played by Richard Dreyfuss and Jillian played by Melinda Dillon who're 2 out of maybe a selected lot who had physically experinced ET episodes much of them were marked by being somewhat burned to the extent of being tanned- the viewers don't know why or how come that is and the film takes it's time to answer all of those questions as well as more. Because of these brief ET episodes and short experineces created strange obsessions amongst each of the individuals the need to take up this strange mountain top, despite warnings from governments that the area might be contaminated, toxic and dangerous to attempt to cross over which cost ones life. That although the story is fictionized- the film looks at all and every single possibilities about a real life situation about what if someone were to spot a UFO and what would happen as a result of an UFO sightings, from the higher ups which're the governments to the cover- ups and to working class normal citizens! And because majority of us are like any average joes that we as viewers should be able to relate to it's two central characters which're Roy and Jilian and not to any gov't officials.
The overall film experience is like watching a James Bond film where it's hideout is just as exhiliarating without the action sequences and we are fascinated about what we are going to find and what may happen once there!
4/4.
