Review of Cliffhanger (1993) by Sean S — 14 May 2010
Although hailed as one of Stallone's "Cliffhanger" never really gets going in my opinion. All the set pieces lack any suspense or originality. The script is terrible, the characters are extremely cliched, the dialogue is cringworthy and the characters decisions are unrealistic and dumb whilst the villains have the worst firing aim in history. The only saving grace for this film is the 2 leads and the SFX. Stallone is acceptable and Lithgow is a fun villain to watch but they are both given cliched and over heroic or over villainous dialogue which makes them to unrealistic.
Overall its a watchable film for kids but anyone over the age of about 15 will have seen 50 films exactly the same as this and will be pretty bored throughtout.
