Review of Clerks (1994) by Joshua M — 06 Nov 2013
If this movie doesn't bring out a pang of serious 90's nostalgia within you, then you didn't experience the 90's. Kevin Smith might not have gone on to create quite as intelligent of a name for himself as this immature (but 100% hilarious) script would have indicated, but that hasn't stopped this low-budget time capsule from remaining just as true and funny as it was when I first saw it (which was still after the Internet had been thriving for years so I can't quite claim I'm part of the slacker generation that this movie was truly centered around).
Fascinating pablum that inspired tons of our best 'teenage' movies like Superbad and every other Judd Apatow script, and a surefire hall-of-famer for socioeconomics majors and college drop-outs alike.
5/5 "You know, there's a lot of fine looking women out there in the world dude. But they don't all bring you lasagna at work.".
