Review of Clear and Present Danger (1994) by Gary E — 31 Dec 2007
Another classic Harrison Ford film. This was a story about how the "interests of the United States Government" paralleled the monetary interests in this film. The fundamental reason for diplomacy and a military is to support the economic and business interests of a nation. But in this film, it was to obtain $650 Million dollars in illegal drug money of a friend of the President, which then became a national policy issue. This film could only have happened between the end of the Cold War and the new War on Terrorism. A nice action film, where the drug business is the enemy. Based loosly on what actually did occur against the Cali, Columbia drug cartel. Shows the excellent job that the CIA and the DoD does to protect our national interests, which does not always parallel the economic interests of the political and business individuals in this country.
Happens more times than you would like to admit. Great action film.
