A great political conspiracy thriller - I remember being baffled when I first saw it aged fifteen - this is a very competently made piece of work that has one outstanding sequence (the convey ambush) that lifts it up to a different level.
However, the film is formulaic, despite Ford proving once again noone does the normal-guy-doing-his-duty better,a bringing a depth and humanity to an otherwise cardboard character.
