Review of Clear and Present Danger (1994) by Matthew C — 17 Apr 2013
I should start by admitting that thanks to early exposure to Indiana Jones, I am a huge Harrison Ford fan so this review is somewhat biased. That said, I think those who aren't Harrison Ford fans will also enjoy the movie.
Harrison Ford reprises his role as CIA deputy director Jack Ryan, first seen in 1992's Patriot Games. After a close friend of the President is murdered, Ryan is sent to Colombia. The line between good and bad isn't clear as there are those technically on Ryan's 'side' who have secretly sent a paramilitary force into Colombia even though Ryan has promised government funds wouldn't be used for such an operation. Ryan and a renegade operative (Willem Dafoe) risk their lives to rescue the later abandoned paramilitaries. The mix of good quality action sequences, dialogue and acting make for a very enjoyable movie.
