Review of Class of 1999 (1990) by Scott A — 02 May 2013
Okay the idea of this film is pretty great. Gangs have come to run the schools, so there robot teachers are put in place to control the peace.
The teachers were all pretty good and evil, Pam Grier was a nice touch, and the effects towards the end when they all started looking more robotic were pretty great too.
I think that the main issue here is that it doesn't really move after the initial set up. And I love Gregg as an actor, but he was just trying his best Corey Feldman persona on here. In fact, they don't make you care much about either gang in the film, or it's members, and since they are in all senses, the good guys, that brings on a huge problem.
Lind was a total cutie though.
Keach's bad contacts annoyed me every time he was onscreen, and McDowell is pretty much wasted here too.
Not bad for a one time viewing.
