Review of Clash of the Titans (1981) by Prasad P — 29 Jun 2009
It is the imaginative genius of special-effects master Ray Harryhausen that will grip you and never leave you as the mythical beasts of Greek legend come to life in this rather cheesy tale of ancient Greece.
The story is treated with hack seriousness and there is no great craft in its visual beauty, save for Harryhausen's amazing renderings of the creatures from Greek myth. After witnessing today's CGI extravaganzas, one can argue that the stop-motion photography feels a little unrealistic and dated, but none of today's blockbusters can hold a candle to Harryhausen's imagination and verve.
Campy, cheesy and so much fun!
