Review of Clash of the Titans (1981) by Kenny S — 13 Apr 2010
The story is good, but some of the performances, most notably from the leads, are weak. You got Laurence Olivier and Maggie Smith doing their best, but they don't have the screen time to save it. Also character motivations seem lost on me a good chunk of the time.
No matter what the producers said, the cutesy and unnecessary robot owl is totally trying to be R2-D2. The visual effects would have been great if the stop motion techniques used had progressed any since Jason and the Argonauts.
All in all not terrible but its definitely dated.
